

GUITARIST | Producer | EDUCATOR
Steve Williamson is an Australian professional guitarist best known for his exquisite acoustic fingerstyle playing. Since 2008, he has performed over 2,600 gigs across South East Queensland, showcasing a vast repertoire of original compositions and pop covers arranged for solo guitar.

Though celebrated for his acoustic style, Steve’s musical journey began in heavy metal and hard rock. In the early 2000s, he was a sought-after lead guitarist for several bands in his hometown of Mackay. His transition to acoustic guitar was sparked by an unexpected gift—his sister bought him a John Mayer album. As Steve puts it: “I was exclusively into heavy metal.”

In 2005, Steve moved to Brisbane and went on to study at the Queensland Conservatorium, where he completed a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Guitar) in 2009 under the guidance of renowned Australian guitarists Jamie Clarke and James Sherlock.

Since graduating, Steve has built a diverse and prolific career as a guitarist, songwriter, producer, mix engineer, and educator. As a session guitarist, he has contributed to numerous albums across genres including metal, country, pop, and EDM—working with artists such as Australian Idol contestants Hayley Warner, Dan England, and Ricki-Lee, as well as Golden Guitar winner Chelsea Basham and The Voice finalist Kimberley Bowden.

Over the past five years, Steve’s online presence—under the handle SteveWilliamsonGuitar—has gained significant traction on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. His content features world-class fingerstyle performances, original compositions, and engaging educational tutorials. In 2024, he launched The Guitar Cast podcast, which quickly gained momentum and featured high-profile guests including producer Warren Huart (The Fray, James Blunt, Aerosmith) and internationally acclaimed guitarist Michael Fix.

As a producer and arranger, Steve has worked closely with Grammy-winning producer Guy Cooper, ,and ARIA-winning producer Stuart Stuart on a range of pop and EDM projects. He is also a well-respected mix engineer, particularly in the South East Queensland rock scene.

A passionate educator for over two decades, Steve has taught at 13 private schools throughout South East Queensland, including Brisbane Boys' College, where he served as the Coordinator of Guitar, Audio Production and Songwriting Program and also Marist College as Director of Guitar Orchestras.
